Roopkund Lake Uttarakhand - Most Thrilling Lake in India

The beautiful lake of Roopkund is situated in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, India. This picturesque clear water lake is surrounded by the majestic Himalayan peak and glaciers. This is also known as the Mystery Lake for finding of the human skeletons and the fossils of horses. About six hundred human skeletons were found making it one of the most thrilling and mysterious lakes of India.

This exquisite lake is packed with exotic landscapes, quaint ponds along with the largest meadows of Garhwal.

Roopkund offers one of the best trekking routes which start from Lohajung. The road head ends at Lohajung and one needs to trek up to Ran Ki Dhar which is a base camp for the night. One can also go for trekking from Debal which can be easily reached from the Almora town. The natural beauty of the town during trekking is inexpressible and can not be explained in words.

The best time to visit the Lake is between Decembers to April.
